Valentine’s Day & VCF SoCal!

Shannon and I have made occasional weekend trips to southern California a tradition since the earliest days of our life together. We both look forward to them and enjoy spending the time together at Disneyland and the surrounding area. Way back when my career kept me on the road a lot, she would occasionally join me if that destination made a Disney visit possible, and being able to share dinner and some evening park time together made those very long work days tolerable.

But over the years, we’ve adapted the practice to accommodate some time for our individual interests, too. While Shannon is able to enjoy some of the more specific ambience and entertainment of the Disney experience, I’ve been able to attend an arcade auction, catch up with friends, or do some filming location hunting for some of my favorite 80’s movies (and long before it became a YouTube thing).

We grabbed a much-needed three-day weekend over Valentine’s Day to head to SoCal and the land of the mouse. We spent some time together at Downtown Disney, sampled a few (new to us) restaurants, and enjoyed the usual sights and sounds. But while Shannon took advantage of her annual pass for some park time, I was also able to attend VCF SoCal – a vintage computing and gaming convention at a nearby hotel where we were staying.

I’ll spare you the foodie pics for the moment, but here are some photos of the convention – my first VCF.
